Bone Grafting Surgery in Tweed

At Tweed Dental Care our dentist offers bone grafting for patients who require new bone growth to support their dental implant.

What is a bone graft?

Bone grafting is a procedure where your dentist adds extra bone tissue to your jaw bone, usually in preparation for a dental implant. At Tweed Dental Care, your dentist may recommend a bone graft if your jaw bone is too thin or soft to support a dental implant.

During your bone graft procedure, the dentist will graft bone from another part of your body or special bone grafting material onto your jaw bone.

Once your bone graft has completely healed, the dental implant can be placed.

Am I a good candidate for a bone graft?

We may recommend a bone graft if you are missing one or more teeth, if you have experienced significant bone loss, or if you are missing any of your front teeth and require a dental implant.

How does bone grafting work?

Bone grafting supports the natural growth of bone tissues. The graft material which is surgically placed in your jaw by your dentist will eventually be replaced by your natural bone as the area around the graft grows and heals, creating a new bone region.
